Carla Del Ponte and Andrea Bianchi

 

Carla Del Ponte is a former Chief Prosecutor of two United Nations international criminal law tribunals. A former Swiss attorney general, she was appointed prosecutor for the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) in August 1999. She was re-appointed to the position of ICTY Prosecutor for a second four-year term in September 2003. Carla Del Ponte served as Swiss ambassador to Argentina from 2008 to February 2011.

 

Faculty member of the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies since 2002, Professor Bianchi was previously Full Professor at the Catholic University, Milan, and Associate Professor at the University of Parma. Until 2002, he was also Professorial Lecturer in International Law at the Bologna Centre of the Johns Hopkins University. His publications address topics that range from international human rights, international economic law, the law of jurisdiction and jurisdictional immunities to international environmental law, state responsibility and the law of treaties. Recently he has published works on international law and terrorism and on non-state actors. He is currently focusing on international law theory, with a special interest on normativity and law making processes.
